Yes, that's my neck as of 2020. Having been plagued by the use of my right arm coming and going for decades since an accident in 1986, it was finally determined that I'd benefit from spinal surgery at 52 in 2014 then again in 2020.
Calling on my dance background, I earned a personal training certification before the first surgery to learn how to survive in the aftermath. Exploring fitness to support my own health led to discovering that I enjoyed sharing fitness with others along the way. It was the start of a new chapter. I left social work to build a career in fitness. Following emerging science on longevity and women's nutrition led me to grow bone in my cervical spine where it was not expected -- according to my surgeon. I continued to follow a supplement and nutrition plan supporting physiological changes in muscle and bone through recovery for healing and so that my muscles would adapt to and work with implanted hardware.
No, everyone doesn't have such challenges. But as a trainer it showed me that the science behind the latest approaches to women's training and to managing the arc of menopause accelerating muscle and bone loss, is real and accessible. No lab required. I continue to study. Reset Fitculture is about sharing what I've learned to make life's natural transitions easier for clients.
It's a gift to continue helping other women enjoy life more by deepening their connection with health through movement and nutritional science. The team that's joined me to create Reset is knowledgeable, health-focused, and attuned to the same issues.
